DESCRIPTION:The Annual 5th Grade Water Fair Event is provided and sponsored by the Davis County Stormwater Coalition to select schools within our County\, where 12 Volunteer Presenters provide upwards of 1\,700 students with amazing and interactive lessons and activities that relate to stormwater. Our Coalition is supported in this event by multiple entities and stakeholders\, who find privilege and great value in educating young minds about the importance of pollution prevention and water quality across multiple facets related to biological habitats\, including their very own neighborhoods.

Best ball scramble. \n  \nUFSMA Trainings 2025 \nNFIP 101 – Tracie Harris (State Floodplain Manager) and Team\nTuesday Nov 18th 8:30 – 12:30 \nThis training provides a foundational overview of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and is ideal for those new to floodplain management or preparing to take the Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) exam. The session covers the history and purpose of the NFIP\, floodplain mapping and Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs)\, floodplain development regulations\, flood insurance principles\, Letters of Map Change (LOMCs)\, and the roles and responsibilities of local officials. Participants will gain a strong understanding of key concepts and terminology essential to the NFIP\, with an emphasis on the knowledge areas covered in the CFM exam. \nLetter of Map Change – Instructors TBD\nTuesday Nov 18th 1:00 – 5:00 \nThis in-depth\, four-hour training provides a comprehensive overview of the FEMA Letter of Map Change (LOMC) process\, including Letters of Map Amendment (LOMAs)\, Letters of Map Revision Based on Fill (LOMR-Fs)\, and Letters of Map Revision (LOMRs). Participants will learn when and how to apply for a LOMC\, required data and documentation\, how to interpret FEMA’s determinations\, and common pitfalls to avoid. The course also covers digital submittals through FEMA’s MT-2 and MT-EZ processes\, coordination with local officials\, and how LOMCs affect flood insurance and development regulations. This session is valuable for local floodplain administrators\, surveyors\, engineers\, and others involved in managing floodplain changes or preparing applications. \nGIS Course – State and WSP\nTuesday Nov 18th 1:30 – 5:00 \nThe transition from paper-based to digital floodplain mapping is critical for efficient floodplain management to align with UDEM’s goal of producing digital flood insurance rate maps (DFIRMs) that will replace any remaining paper maps. WSP is skilled in developing and delivering custom training materials for floodplain management GIS Basic Skills I and II. Our training equips participants with the skills to effectively interpret and utilize GIS systems in floodplain management and permitting\, aligning with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) standards. Our team of experts has created user-friendly materials and engaging\, hands-on sessions that ensure understanding of GIS tools for real-world application.
